On a beautiful summer's evening at the end of June, Boston Cheese Cellar hosted Karim Lahsinat from Neal's Yard Dairy, in London, England. Together, we held a cheese tasting specifically focussed on British and British territorial cheeses.
Neal's Yard, and in particular their found Randolph Hodgson, was crucial in the resurgence of British territorial cheese. By providing a market for cheeses, such as Cheshire, Stilton, and Farmhouse Cheddars, Neal's Yard gave the cheese makers security through increased sales.
Neal's Yard Dairy has now become one of the foremost distributors and exporters of British cheese throughout the country and the world, but importantly the team work closely with the cheesemakers to ensure that the quality and tradition remain as high as it has always been.
The cheese we featured for the evening were:
Colton Bassett Stilton
Gorwydd's Caerphilly
Keen's Cheddar
Hafod
Westcombe Cheddar
Old Winchester
Rollright
Cardo
Sparkenhoe Red Leicester
Cornish Kern
Perl Las
